“The current economic times cause us to consider the economic impact on our contributors but they also cause us to consider the increased demand for services in our community. As a banker, I know the value of having things “add up” but as a Christian, I am equally aware that God will provide if His work is being moved forward and the motivation is right. There is never a convenient time for a capital campaign but the convergence of need and opportunity outweigh the risk of proceeding on the assumption that the time is not right.”

- Eric Wetzig

Why Pursue Our Vision Now?
The following are several of our initiatives that are intentionally designed to strengthen First Presbyterian Church for the next fifty years:

Protecting our property from future flooding
This will be done by unifying our “split” property, building “up” through fill, upward construction and drainage engineering. First Presbyterian Church has a moral obligation to protect future members from facing the degree of flooding we endured in 2004. Many of the rooms are still environmentally “at risk” and hinder our ministry.

The development of the church’s facilities and property
The first phase of development includes grounds and site development, the education wing, the assembly building, and the family life center/fellowship hall and kitchen.

The Education Wing
The expansion of ministries as facility development is realized. Such services (Christian ministries) include, but are not limited to, weekday pre-school and child care, health care and respite care for caregivers, additional capacity for fellowship offerings and dinners, summer camps for children, space for school tutoring, etc.

The Assembly Area
The Assembly Area is ultimately for use by our children as they gather following their release from worship and before Sunday school. Until the Phase Two Sanctuary and Worship Area is completed, this Assembly Area would be used by the choir as their present space is unacceptable.

The Life Center
The Family Life Center/Fellowship Hall will provide expanded Christian ministries by adding additional space and seating capacity, a stage for plays, seminars, pageants, recreation, and worship during future development.
