“Years ago we were members of a church that is four years older than ours. Their needs were exactly as ours are today – a Christian Education wing with rooms for all ages, a large meeting area, and a choir room. The members said they weren’t sure they could afford to build such a structure, but they persevered and not long after it was completed it was debt free. The change in the congregation was such a pleasure to behold. The senior and junior high school students had their own rooms, there were places for adults to come and learn, there was a large area to hold church dinners and events, the choir had their own place to rehearse - and the congregation GREW. It was a joy to see this take place before our very eyes and we covet this for our First Presbyterian Church family here in Vero Beach.”

Schedule of Progress
As this capital campaign is realized, you can expect to see the following schedule of progress:

  • Development of Construction Drawings and permitting by the City of Vero Beach. This step will result in the closure of Broadway as it intersects our property.

  • Following the closure of Broadway, the property will be prepared for the construction. This will mean uniting the property, developing new and safe entry ways.

  • Temporary class rooms and meeting space will be provided as construction becomes imminent.

  • Building construction will begin with the raising of the present education building.

  • Construction of the new education building and the fellowship hall will commence immediately following the razing of the former education building.

  • As the education building and the fellowship hall are near completion, McAfee Hall will be razed and the space developed as the new courtyard area.

  • When construction efforts conclude and Certificate of Occupancy is granted, great celebration will be heard as First Presbyterian Church fulfills the goals of this initiative and realizes new ministry opportunities.

The time frame for this process is based on a variety of factors (permitting, material availability, weather, etc.) but it is our hope that the vision can be realized by the fall of 2011.
