“The Wednesday night dinners provide a wonderful opportunity for members and friends to experience a close fellowship, yet we are currently limited because of the size of McAfee Hall. Also, the design of our kitchen limits our ability to efficiently prepare and serve dinner. It has served us well in the past but now it’s time to provide expanded services to our members and the community. We are confident that the opportunity to grow our facilities is now. It has been proven that a church that doesn’t grow will eventually die on the vine.”

- Gene and Lill Horton

The Cost of Vision
The cost of development of any church facility needs to be examined in terms of the cost of not doing anything.

The cost of not doing anything is to ensure that First Presbyterian Church will slowly follow the course of other fading and diminishing congregations who lacked vision for their future. If we do not accept this vision at this time the cost will most certainly be the almost total marginalization of First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach as an effective voice for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now compare that cost with the financial and personal cost of developing the ministries, leadership, property and facilities of First Presbyterian Church. The “Building Faith, Changing Lives, Sharing Christ” Capital Campaign is seeking to raise a minimum of $6,500,000.

RSI, our capital campaign consultant, believes that we can clearly accomplish the stated goal of $6.5 million. Yet, as many of you are aware, the total cost of the proposed development is higher than that figure. This gap will be addressed in two ways. First, RSI does not know First Presbyterian Church and Vero Beach like we know First Presbyterian Church and Vero Beach. We believe that we can surpass this stated goal and minimize the gap and realize the ministry hopes and dreams of First Presbyterian. Second, any development will be based on actual revenue based on the campaign. Our development will honor the giving of our congregants and our community.
