  Dr. Tim's Message

Master, you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more. His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

Matthew 25:20b-21

I have prayed daily over this effort to begin a journey of re-development and growth by boldly moving forward this month and next with a capital stewardship campaign called “Building Faith, Changing Lives, Sharing Christ.”

We are truly in a “window of opportunity.” Part of the reality of our congregation is that we have many members who are in a position to support the vision of the church at this time. I believe that if we do not begin this journey now we will lose valuable resources that cannot be matched in the near future. The challenge to raise funds above and beyond our regular giving through tithes and offerings has led us to contract with RSI, the leading stewardship firm in the country. RSI will guide us through a capital stewardship campaign so we may faithfully meet our ministry needs today and in the future. Based on their research, RSI says we can expect to raise, with confidence, $6.5 million. RSI does not know the First Presbyterian Church family – I do, and I firmly believe we will exceed that amount! To date we already have $3.5 million pledged.

This is a time of commitment, faith, and action. Our time is at hand, for I am confident that this initiative is in God’s hands. He has always called men and women to noble service and personal sacrifice. God called Moses to save his people. God called David to serve instead of the other brothers. God, the Father, did not take the cup away from the lips of Jesus for the sake of humanity.

I believe this is the exact moment for the people of First Presbyterian Church to take this journey of re-development and growth. I pray you will join me.
